The Neighborhood

NoDa" or North Davidson is the central village located within the neighborhood of North Charlotte. The neighborhood began development in 1903, and quickly became an area of textile manufacturing and mill workers' residences. Recently NoDa has been transformed, and serves as a center for the arts and entertainment in Charlotte, with bimonthly gallery crawls, several locally owned performance venues, restaurants, breweries, and small shops prominently featured in the eclectic neighborhood.

NoDa, a name coined by architect Russell Pound, shares the same geography as Historic North Charlotte which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to historic and charming single family mill houses, NoDa has seen a boom in residential construction and multifamily condos and apartments in recent years. A tightly-knit mill community remains, with a unique sense of identity where diversity and spontaneity are celebrated.
